Collaborative efforts are essential for reducing added sugar and salt in processed foods
The global food system is in crisis, dominated by ultra-processed foods high in sugars, salt, and unhealthy fats. These dietary elements are key contributors to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, disproportionately impacting vulnerable populations, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The most affected are children under five, whose diets are heavily influenced by the availability and marketing of unhealthy food options.
Less Is Adequate was established to tackle these challenges head-on, focusing on foods consumed by vulnerable groups, especially young children. We are committed to advocating for healthier food environments and promoting sustainable food production practices.
Our mission is to work with small and medium-sized manufacturers in LMICs to reformulate products, reducing harmful ingredients and improving nutritional quality.
